What do BIM objects bring to your architectural project?
Project planning, design, construction and project management has come on leapsand bounds thanks to BIM. A methodology that focuses on maximising the efficiency of project modelling and design.
What is BIM?
Building Information Modelling is a collaborative working methodology for architects, engineers, builders and developers, as well as other professionals involved throughout a BIM construction project. It covers all stages: from the ideal concept, through its construction, to its maintenance and lastly its future demolition, to create intelligent and conceptual 3D digital models of the project.
Therefore, it does not only deal with the physical characteristics of the building, but also contains technical information and functional aspects.
Who uses BIM objects and how?
Architects, designers, engineers, project managers, contractors, developers and all other trades involved in the modelling, conceptualisation and execution of the architectural project.
As it is a collaborative working method, it encourages cooperation, participation, communication and an exchange of ideas, and standardises the exchange of information between the various parties involved in the project.
What software is needed for a BIM project?
A BIM project involves various types of software to carry out each stage of the building’s life cycle: architectural design, structural analysis, energy efficiency studies, costing, etc.
All information must be available in a digital format, i.e. a BIM object that is distributed in specific formats or families and must be easily downloadable and compatible with programs such as Autodesk Revit or ArchiCAD, among others.
Advantages of using BIM objects
- Greater collaboration and communication: it fosters a collaborative and shared work ethic among the different professionals involved in the development of the project.
- Easy visualisation: 3D simulations allow a realistic and complete appreciatio of the work before its construction.
- Problem detection: catches clashes during the design stage.
- Efficiency: facilitates material and resource management and guarantees the standardisation of information throughout the life cycle of the building.
Do you have a BIM project using zinc? The Project Services Department at elZinc® can help you if you need it.
To assist in your designing of digital zinc façades and roofing in elZinc®, we have placed at your disposal a library of BIM objects, within which you will find the relevant technical and quality information for our products in all our surface finishes and the most common installation systems, such as standing seam, façade panel, flat lock shingles, etc.
Our files are developed for ArchiCAD and Autodesk Revit software and offer:
- System designation
- Specifications: dimensions, fixings…
- Links to relevant information
- Available in textures. In addition, in Revit, you can download them in pattern-based surfaces.
For further information, please do not hesitate to contact our Project Services Department, who will be happy to assist you in each and every phase of your zinc projects. We also offer other tools and services to help you develop you project: 3D models, architectural details, training, etc.
