Together with EDP, we have just initiated one of the largest photovoltaic plants in Asturias.

The solar generation plant, which in this first phase will have 2.9 megawatt peak power, will consist of more than 6,500 solar panels which will occupy a surface area of almost two football pitches, or 13,000 square metres, on the roofs of our factory in Asturias.

With this installation, the company is estimated to achieve an annual saving of 17% of its electricity consumption – almost 3 million kilowatt hours. In addition, we will avoid the emission of 893 tonnes of CO2 each year, a positive impact on air quality similar to that of more than 65,000 new trees.

elZinc: A commitment to the environment

The development of this solar generation plant is part of the low environmental impact policy that the company has been developing through other actions, such as obtaining ISO 50001 certification for Energy Efficiency or the installation of technologies that make better use of raw materials and energy.
