Our commitment

elZinc® is committed to environmental protection, promoting practices that ensure sustainable development by using the best, most advanced technologies available in the market to develop our business:

  • Our sustainable purchase policy and the location of our main supplier of raw materials located in the same region (Asturias) as our facilities ensure minimal environmental impact from transport.
  • The technology elZinc® employs in its production processes uses machinery and plant which are characterised for their low energy consumption and more efficient use of raw materials. If rolled zinc products generally require less energy than other building materials to produce, elZinc®’s technological efficiency further reduces this energy requirement, make it an even wiser choice.

LEED® certification

A series of factors related to Green Building and alternative energies.

The LEED® certification program (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) was developed in 1998 by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), in the United States.

The LEED® system is composed of a set of prerequisites and credits spread over 8 categories. It’s an international certification system based on the assessment and approval of a series of factors related to Green Building and alternative energies.

Each building is classified by its use and aspires to one of the 4 certification levels, depending on the amount of points the project accrues or on the level of compliance achieved.

Thanks to its numerous advantages such as its complete recyclability or its longevity, titanium-zinc elZinc® can have an impact in up to 3 families of LEED® credits of your project and can contribute to gaining up to 7 points.  However, we must remind reader that LEED® does not certify specific products, but the building as a whole.

For more information, please contact us or consult elZinc® in LEED® certification document.

EPDs

What is an EPD – Environmental Product Declarations?

Sustainable development is a priority for elZinc; it is part of that philosophy that drives us to implement innovative processes and products that respect the environment.

In this respect, elZinc has just renewed the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for elZinc Natural and carried out the EPD for the whole range of elZinc Alkimi® pre-weathered finishes within the GlobalEPD programme of AENOR.

ISO 50001 certification

elZinc acquires the international energy management system certification ISO 50001 as part of its commitment to sustainable development.

In addition to using state-of-the-art production technology, which in itself allows better use of materials and reduces the energy consumption required for our industrial processes, we have decided to take another step forward in our policies to improve energy efficiency in our facilities and make our activity even more sustainable.

Obtaining the ISO 50001 Energy Efficiency certification, validated by Lloyd’s Register, means that we have implemented an energy management system. This sets the foundation for enabling us to achieve various goals in the future, including using energy more efficiently for example by implementing improvements to our facilities, conserving natural resources, and addressing climate change by reducing our carbon footprint.

This certification demonstrates the company’s alignment with international energy requirements for a circular economy and for sustainable construction.
